How is MPG calculated?

Automatic uses a combination of sensors in the vehicle to determine your MPG. The main pieces of data that the adapter pulls are Engine Load and Mass Air Flow (MAF).

If that’s not available, Manifold Absolute Pressure data (MAP) is next in line for determining MPG.

Finally, if your car doesn't provide MAP sensor data, we then fall back to the EPA estimate to determine MPG.
