I’m unable to complete setup

There are a few reasons this could be the case:

The adapter has gone to sleep

The adapter may have timed out and "gone to sleep" if setup takes too long. This is a precaution to protect your car battery. Please unplug the adapter and plug it back in to "wake it up".

Vehicle already associated with a user with Automatic Pro

A vehicle can only be associated with one Automatic account at a time. 

Incompatible hardware

Setup cannot be completed with any hardware other than the Automatic Pro adapter.

Some Android Phones

Several Android phones need to be manually paired with the adapter to complete setup. Here's how:

  • Unplug the adapter from your car
  • Plug it in when prompted to by the Automatic app
  • Visit the Bluetooth settings in your phone and manually pair the adapter
  • Go back to the Automatic app and complete the setup process

International car

Automatic is not supported on vehicles sold outside of the United States.

Setup inexplicably failed

It’s possible setup might just fail the first time. There's a lot of different types of cars out there, and supporting each and every one of them is a monumental task! When in doubt, unplug the adapter from your car and follow the instructions on the screen to try again.
